 The Mountain View Connection Concert Series presents Repository of Musical Dreams: A Journey into the World of James Joyce on Sunday, December 4th and Monday, December 5th in the intimate space of Lougheed House.

This chamber music concert features Lee Hoiby’s Piano Quartet: “Dark Rosaleen” – Rhapsody on an Air by James Joyce. The music is based on a tune from James Joyce’s effort to compose music for James Clarence Mangan’s beautiful poem “Dark Rosaleen” in 1902. The programme also includes Samuel Barber’s set of songs, from James Joyce’s Chamber Music (1907) – Rain Has Fallen, Sleep Now, Solitary Hotel, and Nuvoletta.

This concert features Calgary musicians Britanny Rae (soprano), Donovan Seidle (violin), Michael Bursey (viola), David Morrissey (cello), Kathleen van Mourik (piano), and Charles Foreman (piano). They will also perform Gustav Mahler’s Piano Quartet in A minor, Richard Strauss’s Mädchenblumen.

As always, at intermission the audience will be entertained by a lovely reception catered by The Restaurant at the Lougheed House and given a chance to explore the house which will be filled with glamorous holiday decor, as well as Christmas trees.

The Mountain View Connection Concert Series and Lougheed House present mezzo-soprano Stephania Romaniuk, one of Calgary’s most promising young artists in recital. The concert takes place at the Lougheed House on June 12 and 13, 2016, at 7:30 pm.

CPO violinist Donovan Seidle, emerging musicians, violinist Lev Nesterov, violist Osmond Chiu and cellist Olena Kilchyk will join pianist Kathleen van Mourik in the brilliant Piano Quintet by Frank Bridge. Artistic Directors Charles Foreman and Kathleen van Mourik will accompany Stephania Romaniuk.

The concert features songs and chamber music by Debussy, Rodrigo, Samuel Barber, and Handel.
